The more I think about it, it’s not really whether or not this short was funny (which it wasn’t) so much as it was given the free-pass to Immortal rating without ever actually getting voted on. You need a minimum 50k views to get that rating and this short has much less than that. I believe the same is with the Jason Biggs short and if I was keeping track, I’d wager most (if not all) videos posted by the “famous” have been given the same treatment along with their featured status.

Now, I can understand why this is, as having “famous” people post their videos on this site is part of its cache. They’d likely lose a lot of these videos if the “famous” people making them believed there was a real chance that the public would react poorly to their material, vote them as unfunny and sink them into the Crypt. So, in order to maintain one of the site’s big draws (shorts by famous people) you have to protect the producers of such content.

Honestly, I’d rather they just gave this Feature-level (read “famous”) content a different rating, like “Featured” or “Special” or even just disable rating all together for it. This would maintain the integrity of the rating system and allow the “famous” to continue posting their videos risk-free.

At least this way, the top rating of “Immortal” would actually mean something.
