Earth Hour has been claimed a huge success all over the world, but one place it sank was New Hope, Pa. Known by many as the place where George Washington crossed the Delaware River, there was little evidence of any lights being turned off here. In fact, one man actually turned on extra lights to protest the event. Bob Gerenser, owner of Gerensen's Exotic Ice Cream, says he is against 'Earth Hour' and everything it stands for. After placing a sign in front of his shop claiming "Global Warming is a Lie," Bob received 100's of phone calls. Some callers threatened to burn down his shop. One said he should "watch out." About 20% of the calls were supportive. Bob has often dressed up and played George Washington for local historic reenactments. Asked if he thinks George Washington would support his protest, Bob says he firmly believes America's first president would be standing right by his side. " Just as he (Washington) fought for independence from the British back then, George would fight for our freedom from the Kyoto Protocol today."
