Generally in comedy now, everybody goes for the cheap laugh; it's de rigeur. Does anyone remember the old chestnut about the famous star who told a young comedian (I think it was Richard Pryor), "You've got real talent, you don't need to work blue, kid"? I'd actually like to start hearing comedy without rudeness and swearing and cheap laughs, not out of prudery, but genuine curiosity whether people still can be funny without it. And I do have a two year old granddaughter I'd like to be able to watch performances with and not have to explain why she shouldn't use the words she hears.
