He’s not making fun of Steven Hawking or those with ALS. It’s a satirical jab at singers who rest their voices, etc. The absurdity lies in the fact that the healthy Martin Short would rather use a computer voice to sing the song, reserving his voice for an audience that would stroke his ego. I’m a very PC person, but there is no malice intended in this skit.
Martin Short hasn’t been funny in over 20 years. When he ran outside, I was hoping he would run in the street and get hit by a cab or something. That’s the only thing that would have saved…this.
I’ve had friends and family who’ve died due to cancer, diabetes, sucicide, etc. If I was offended everytime Someone made a joke about them, I’d be bitter everyday. Sorry, ptphil, but this isn’t about your daughter.
He’s making fun of Steven Hawking, who has ALS and can’t move or speak well. My daughter just died of ALS, was totally paralyzed, couldn’t speak or breathe at the end. Not funny.
