I thought the joke was about white kids who want to party like “gangstas” and therefore, buy party supplies that are cliche and racist. Isn’t that why the store is in Minnesota and the model of that shirt that only buttons on the top is white?
The joke is that gangsta rap is a genre of music mainly made by urban African Americans, whereas the protagonist of the advert is a suburban white person.
