In the 2006 movie, the original Crank shows Jason Statham as an armed and dangerous and somewhat humorously a sicko surviving through running around in LA pumping his adrenaline.
Now it's not about keeping the blood pumping to keep his heart from stopping but getting it back, and him the process he is replaced with an artificial heart and he has to keep it ELECTRIFIED.
The idea of Star Wars came into mind when I realized that Jango Fett may have a similar character to Chev Chelios Played by Statham, Dangerous and the one you don't want to mess with. Mainly the speech comparison, they've both got the english accent which can be a good way to put them in a same role yet completely different atmosphere and environment. lol
