- The panting is potentially a bad sign... we have a cat (that also plays fetch) who panted when we first got her but the panting was due to a worm infection.

- Im not trying to be funny here, the only time I saw a cat breathe like that was driving my sisters dying cat to the vet after he was hit by a car. The vet couldent save him but pointed out that when a cat breathes like that he has a serious respiratory problem and has trouble getting oxygen into his body, short breaths like that pick up carbon monoxide, healthy cats will breath long breaths through their nose, open mouth breathing is a red flag for that animal. Whoever has that cat would be wise to take him to the vet unless they want to watch an animal suffer and die.
