I can't wait until we get a homosexual in the supreme court. That'll fix everything.

I understand what you are saying jeikuh! However, What would stop a 29 year old brother from marrying his 26 year old sister. The law right!?! But the hypocritical thing is that opponents of prop 8 continue to say "Fundamental rights for ALL"... when in fact the ALL really means heterosexuals and homosexuals... other sexual minorities don't get that right! That is hypocrisy!
The constitution does not recognize a marriage between people who are related, or who marry an animal, etc...
Marriage under the constitution never meant man/man love or woman/woman love. It was illegal in its day... just like pedophilia is illegal today. The main reason people are saying NO on 8 is because its a cry for homosexuals (an their sympathizers) to be accepted as normal behavior.
The 1970s APA decision after all was never made on scientific research, rather it was made by public pressure.
So the hypocrisy is eveident... No on 8 is fundamental rights for homosexuals only! All other sexual minorities arent given the right to marry. When the government recognizes marriage for a man and his dog, or for a brother and sister... then I'll vote NO on 8.
So uphold the Constitution as long as you vote the way we want you to. If you don't then you are unconstitutional....hmmmm so in a democracy you better vote the way we want you to or we will say you are not upholding the Constitution that ensures a democracy?

Well, to those who voted NO these skits are funny since it makes fun of those with which they disagree!
Lets make a skit making fun of Obama and see how long before the death threats start from those very same people. :-)
So is this site supposed to have funny sketches or just extoll the virtues of voting no on prop 8 and making fun of Sara Palin. If I wanted to see unfunny crappy hack writing I'd watch 30 Rock.
Psyguy, you're an idiot. The United States was founded on the basis that all men are created equal and there are certain rights that are endowed to all men and can (should) not be taken away by the government. But I guess if a bunch of people want to take away someone's rights, then it's okay. I'll start: Plankton Prop 1 states anyone with the name "PsyGuy" is not allowed to make slippery slope or strawman arguments. Who's with me?
i think prop 8 is fine with me, i am personally against gay marriage, but it should be left up to states rights, at least the federal government (bastards) aren't stepping on there toes just yet.
On the Polygamy/Poly Amory issue ... who does it hurt if a bunch of people wanted to marry each other? That argument is the exact same that homosexuals use against defining a marriage?
What if two women love the same man and WANT to marry? Why should marriage just be defined as TWO people??

This is the path we open up when we define marriage as anything other than 1 man - 1 woman.
Another can of worms that is opened is simply this: A gay couple marry. A child is biologically introduced into the equation - either a sperm donor is used (in the case of two lesbians) or a surrogate mother births the child in the 2 male marriage.
Now ... the gay couple divorce. Who pays the child support? If EQUAL RIGHTS are in place as they should be, then it should be the one leaving the marriage without the child.
But! That is not how it is happening NOW. NOooo! There have been several cases where lesbians have sued the sperm donor (never mine contracts drawn up before hand) and the donor is stuck paying child support because these two decided it was time to quite "playing house."
Scream equal rights all you want, but it isn't equal until the ex-whatever steps up and pays the support they should be paying instead of looking for a scape goat!
EQUAL rights right? Or is it only equal when its convenient?!?!
And news for everybody. Seperation of church and state is not a law it's a long accepted precedent. It was a way of sidestepping the religion issue in the country because we were already so diverse. So one faith did not try and control the acts of the other and then break up the loose confederation states that this country started as.
Polygamists are not a sexual minority, they prefer to have married sex with women all the time so that's not really a sexual preference or predisposition. The reason the government banned it was not because of moral objections but because having multiple wives on the books makes keeping track of tax breaks close to impossible.

Sexuality is a spectrum. Someone can be primarily straight and not be averted by gay sex or sex with his female partner with another man present. And likewise goes for the homosexual. Just because someone is bisexual doesn't mean they want to have sex with both a man and a woman at the same time every time and then want to be married to both at the same time. It's hard enough to be married to a woman you love (trust me I live it) let alone two people. which brings me back to the whole taxes thing. Multiple marriages are just impractical.
I'm not trying to offend anybody and their religious beliefs. Honestly if your God or god or guru objects to homosexuality and their unions there of isn't their eternal punishment enough. Isn't God the ultimate arbitrator and ultimately the only one qualified to judge whether a life was led justly.

There is a lot of ignorance being argued here.
1. Homosexuality is not analogous to incest, pedophilia, or bestiality. If you do not understand the difference, ask for help. If you DO NOT WISH to know the difference, well, you cannot expect people to respect your wilfull ignorance. And people like yourself should not be expected to have sound enough minds to make laws for everyone. (Clearly putting Prop 8 on the ballot was someone not understand this simple principle.)
2. Bisexuality (attraction to men and women) is not the same thing as polyamory (multiple partners). Bisexuality only describes attractions, it does not insinuate or explain anything about your inclination toward monogamy or polyamory. You can be bisexual and be married to one person for the rest of your life.
3. If two or more adults wish to enter into a marriage, I don't feel like it's my business to intervene -- unless any of them are unable to consent or are brainwashed (this has happened). If this means it's a group of 20 people or a brother and sister, I don't feel like it's my business to try to restrict their wishes because I may not personally share that interest.
In this case, what people are asking for is the right for consenting adults who happen to be homosexual to enter into a marriage (a word which has meaning beyond its Religious connotation). The reason why people are asking for this is because married people have certain privileges and rights. To allow some people to have access to those rights while denying it to others -- especially when they are paying the same taxes as everyone else -- is discriminatory, unconstitutional, and wrong.
If you argue that people who are homosexual should not marry because of religious reasons, you have to understand that NOT EVERYONE SHARES YOUR BELIEFS. This is something "deeply religious" people seem to not be able to wrap their minds around. Yet there are those who may disagree with what they perceive homosexuality to be (i.e. choice versus inherent quality) but still support the right for homosexual people to enter into legally-recognized marriages. I think this is because of at least two reasons: (1) they are actually trying to act Christ-like by acting out of equality and compassion, and (2) they are not trying to do God's job by judging others and restricting quality of life.
I'm confused at this "all sexual minorities" thing... What are "all" the other sexual minorities? If we're talking polygamy, then I personaly don't see an issue with polygamy... accept how it's used against homosexual marriage. What are "all" the sexual minorities?
This is all so silly. It's terribly dramatic and an obnoxious scare tactic to say that voting NO on proposition 8 is to vote yes on bestiality and incest. Are you people serious? That's the most idotic thing that i have ever heard. Perhaps the context of the discussion needs to be changed. Make marriage a union between two consenting adults. There. Done. Why does it bother people what other people do? If it's a religious issue then they should be happy! The gays and lesbians are already going to hell in the eyes of religious zealots. They only have to spend one lifetime with the detestable gays and then they pass on to heaven where they never have to deal with them again. Don't even bring up the ridiculous issue of incest-- Incest is illegal because in modern history it was determined to be related to genetic deformities and abnormalities (never mind the early rulers of the earth were all inbred from the same extended family as to "preserve the bloodline" ). However, at the "beginning of time" it was not only only acceptable, it was commanded by God. Several times. Anyone who voted for proposition 8 should really examine what they voted for. The preservation of the "sanctity" of marriage or giving further control to the government on social issues. It's funny -- so many people get pissed off when the government meddles in their daily affairs but are completely supportive of foolish measures like this.
