PSA - Listen to Overpaid Celebrities

Something terrible is happening... Overpaid celebrities don't have a big enough voice when it comes to Healthcare Reform. And Joe Biden is really a unicorn.

psamockery, I'm disappointed that you haven't answered my questions. If you're going to make such a bold statement, then you should be ready to defend it when people question that statement. I've made political comedy videos myself and I've readily defended my arguments in the comments sections.

If you do decide to engage in a debate, then my biggest question remains: When this video was made, did each of the actors have health insurance?

I have some questions for the uploader, psamockery, to answer on behalf of the people in the video.

In basic function, how are health care premiums different from health care taxes? Why would you rather pay premiums over taxes?

The one answer that I will anticipate is that, were a public option actuated and you still stayed with your private insurer, you'd have qualms about paying premiums AND taxes. My preemptive response is that I don't mind paying to ship packages via FedEx or UPS while still paying taxes that support the United States Postal Service. Apparently, neither does anybody in this nation since I've personally never heard such a complaint.

Premiums just pay for fellow people who can afford health care whereas taxes to support a public option would help the poor. Do you not want to help the poor or do you believe that every poor person is poor because of personal character and work ethic and thus does not deserve to be able to afford private health care?

You criticize celebrities for speaking out. The reason they do is obvious. They have a fan base that will listen and so they are good vehicles to get out a message. If you are so against this practice then why are your keywords virtually the same as the original Funny Or Die video that you are parodying, indicating your obvious attempt to link yourself to said massively successful video and capitalize on your targets' fan base, which you haven't earned like they have? Should you feign ignorance of this action, I imagine that you'll explain that you included Will Ferrell, Jon Hamm, Olivia Wilde, Donald Faison, and Thomas Lennon in your keywords because you were specifically imitating them.

The health care debate symbolizes American classism. We’ve all heard that staggering statistic that 1% of America controls 90% of its wealth. These exact numbers are dubious because I’ve found other figures in my research, but the other figures have all been proportionate and I’m sure the true figures convey the same point. So, why do you have a problem with rich people speaking out for the poor?

I have one final question, which instantly occurred to me when I watched your video and the importance of which was further confirmed by the phrase in the Credits section of your video. Does each person in this video currently have health insurance?

I look forward to your response in the comments section of this video.

Yea because if my child breaks his leg, I want YOU to pay for it through higher insurance premiums! I'd rather have an insurance bureaucrat deny my claim instead of some doctor directly provide me with care. With my benefits at work, I pay $18 every two weeks to give myself and my entire family (wife, 2 children)80% coverage for: prescription drugs, medical expenses not covered under medicare, and dental expenses. Not to mention, Medicare up here in Canada pretty much covers EVERYTHING else. Seems to be working pretty well up here...

Here's the difference between an overpaid celebrity and an overpaid health insurance CEO: When an overpaid celebrity unjustly earns a ridiculously high income it's likely because that celebrity made a crappy film that wasted the audience's time and leisure money. When an overpaid health insurance CEO unjustly earns a ridiculously high income it's likely because that CEO denied health insurance to someone who later died due to lack of health care.

Overpaid celebrities, indeed. You know who else is overpaid? The congressmen and women who get millions of dollars from health insurance lobbyists to vote down the public option. ie. Sen. Max Baucus, one of the SAF members who voted down the bill, has received over $3.2 million from the Health Care industry in the past 5 years.

But these celebrities... You're must be right. I mean, God forbid they use their influence to improve quality of life for Americans (as in the Constitutional promises of Life, Libery, and the Pursuit of Happiness.)

This is so brave!

As in, it is brave to take on the very group of people that you are trying to piggyback to get noticed.

"F&$* You, Funnyordie! Now...how do I post this on Funnyordie?..."

The irony is making my head hurt.

Hand: I don't know what happened! I was trying to feed them, and they just bit me!

And as far as I'm concerned, Tom Lennon is UNDERPAID. I mean, did you even WATCH "The State?"

But congrats on getting front paged!

OK, this IS pretty funny, since what this video is getting all sarcastic about ("next door neighbor paying when you break your leg") is what I believe is called "insurance." Any payout you get from a medical claim IS your next-door neighbor paying. Or did you think that money magically came from nowhere?

Interesting that there's enough bandwidth to play the original Will Farrel version and EVERY other video on FOD, but this one just buffers forever and never plays. What, can't take a joke guys? Scared of someone calling out your BS? Pathetic. Between this and the Rapist Polanski defending, you celebs should never be allowed to speak in public again.
