Ebert and Roeper wouldn't review these movies. So we had to.

I can’t believe the Watermelon Heist is a real film! Here is the synopsis from Rotten Tomatoes. What I don’t understand is how a respectable actor like John Amos (who has come a long way since Good Times—he was goon in Men In Trees) could do a film like this. Maybe they were desperate for money.:

I can’t believe the Watermelon Heist is a real film! Here is the synopsis from Rotten Tomatoes. What I don’t understand is how a respectable actor like John Amos (who has come a long way since Good Times—he was goon in Men In Trees) could do a film like this. Maybe they were desperate for money.:

The Brown family has a most troublesome neighbor in the shape of curmudgeonly Ol' Man Amos, whose grumpy declaration that they are "welfare collecting vagrants" inspires his efforts to make them move off their land and out of his life. Determined to stick around, the Browns are nonetheless faced with a seemingly unsurmountable pile of unpaid bills that may prove to be the downfall of their home ownership. Pursuing characteristically untraditional means of raising capital, the Browns decide to enter the Watermelon Juice Afro Sheen contest, which awards $10,000 to the lucky contestant who find the biggest, juiciest, sweetest watermelon in the country. They know just where to go to find such beautiful fruit, too; unfortunately, it happens to be right next door! Starring John Amos (COMING TO AMERICA, WEST WING, GOOD TIMES) , THE WATERMELON HEIST was directed by John's son K.C. and produced by daughter Shannon. All three family members collaborated on the script

Anyone who doesn’t think this is great doesn’t understand what you’re saying. I can’t believe a movie titled “The watermelon heist” was made… The movie clip intro was a nice touch. The blockbusters around here don’t have Black Cinema Sections but I’d love to see whats in them.
