  • Great idea. Too bad it doesn't translate in the real world. Most schools punish any kid who stands up to a bully. My son stepped in and got some kids to back off of the smallest kid in his class. He didn't touch the bullies he just got in between them and the victim and yelled at them to stop. After week and weeks of the bullies picking at the smaller kid and the admins just saying "You should stop that" and not taking any action whatsoever, my son finally stepped in. Guess who ended up in office with a black mark in his file. MY son. When I asked if the other kids had ever received any such demerit they refused to answer me.

  • Right Jill? one of my kids is smaller than others his age...for months he was hit, tripped, yelled at, picked on, they'd take his backpack and throw it out the class window... teachers and the principal turned a blind eye.... so one day, he was walking along and two of them started in on him near the school's construction project--he picked up a 3' piece of rebar and beat the crap out of one of them as the other ran... yes, he got suspended but it was worth it. They never bothered him again.
  • Things never change... 50 years ago, my Fiance was a military kid in Port Angeles. The town bullies beat the crap out of him, broke his nose and ganged up on him for years-- there were five foot-ball jocks in argyle sweaters. They even came into his basement once with baseball bats when he was fixing something...the last straw was when they did a drive-by shooting and just missed his mother who was in the kitchen. Ever heard the song, "Pumped up Kicks"? well, whoever wrote that must have heard the story on what came next for those school boys that very day and then later...one at a time when they were alone, and it was one on one... when my Fiance ended up in court over how he handled them, the judge ruled him, not guilty by reason of defense. He went on in life to become one of our BEST Government agents and took down some of the biggest bullies in the world to include Noriega "The Pineapple".
