Betsy Franco: I'm James and Dave Franco's mother, Betsy. Based on acting lessons with James Franco, starring two of my boys, you might have gotten the impression that I'm a bit insensitive. Well, I'm here to set the record straight.
James Franco: Mom said that she was gonna take him to the vet for a check-up. And I said oh, okay. Bye, Tobey. Came back and she said that they put him to sleep.
Betsy Franco: When the boys were growing up, we had a cat named Tobey. At the time of the incident, James was eight and Tommy was five and Davey was just two weeks old. Now, Tobey on the other hand, he was suffering. In a truly disgusting way. He was incontinent and he had major bowel control issues. That cat would diarrhea right under baby Davey's crib!
Betsy Franco: This is Davey's old room. Right here. Have you ever heard of taxoplasmosis? It's carried by cat feces! That cat's sh*t was going to kill my new baby!
Betsy Franco: Have you ever seen Sophie's Choice? Well, I had to make a decision that all mothers dread. My son Davey or Tobey the cat. I told the boys I was taking Tobey to the vet. Several hours later, Tobey was toast. When James found out that Tobey had been put to sleep without a goodbye, he cried for three hours non-stop.
Betsy Franco: Of course, James was always crying. Always. But, you know? Tobey was my cat, and it was my house, and you just happened to live here. My house, my cat, my rules. I guess what I'm trying to say is: I killed the cat to save the baby! You're welcome! Now shut the fu*k up about it, boys.
