 INT. LOCATION - DAY

B slides an item over to A.

B
I don’t think I’m ready for this.

Beat.

B (CONT’D)
I know. I know. What kind of
person does this? I take full
responsibility, and accept any and
all consequences. But it, it
just... It just doesn’t feel right
anymore.

A
Right, anymore?

B
That’s right.

A
This won’t do. You can’t not, not
want this anymore. You have to
want it.

B
I don’t blame you if you hate me.

A
Hate you? Are you kidding me? Can
you explain yourself, at all? I’m
just trying to get a grasp on all
this and it might help.

B
What’s to explain?

A
Everything!

B
I don’t want to get into details,
ok? It’s just not for me, and if
you respect me at all, as a person,
and as a friend, you will leave it
at that.

A
Wish I could, old friend, but there
is simply no way.

B
You won’t even try?

A
No. I can’t. You see, you’ve been
privy to some rather important
information. Personal information I
shared only with you. The kind of
information I wouldn’t feel
comfortable knowing is just
floating around out there, waiting
to be shared with goodness knows
who, for no good reason... I’ll be
honest, it frightens me, puts me a
little on edge.

B
You don’t have to worry, I won’t
tell a soul. I promise.

A
Oh you promise? Like you did
before?

B
There are circumstances, you have
to trust me.

A
No dice. Spill it. Why, today of
all days, is this suddenly too much
for you?

B
I’m not going to be able to explain
it properly.

A
Then do it improperly, I think I’ve
earned at least that.

B
Would love too... But, can’t.

A
Did something happen, did I do
something to upset you? Make you
dislike my company? I really had no
idea this was coming.

B
No no no, it’s nothing like that, I
swear.

A
Then what is it? I need to know.
You’re serious though, about not
wanting it?

B
You know what, it’s nothing.
Forget this whole thing. I want it
back, and everything that comes
with it.

A
Really?

B
Yes. Really.

A
Normally I would be very excited to
have you back in, but you
hesitation concerns me. We’ve been
through a lot together, and this
side of you, it’s not your best.
I’m a little hurt I got to see it
at all, least of all today.

B
Well, put your concerns to bed, I’m
here to stay. The butterflies have
flown from my stomach and from here
on out you shall see nothing but my
good side. . . I don’t know what
came over me, just some jitters I
suspect. You can understand that,
can’t you?

A
I can. . . Good to have you back.

B
I’m so glad to be back.

INT. LOCATION - LATER

B clutches the item.

A
What’s the matter?

B
Matter? What? Nothing. Everything
is fine.

A
You still want it, don’t you? as
much as me, like we planned.

B
Yes, I do. I’m just a little
nervous.

A
I can understand that. But it’ll
pass. I know you can do this, I
just know it.

B
What if I can’t?

A
Keep it together, I need you now
more than ever.

This line can not be removed. You MUST use it!!!

B
You do?
A
Are you kidding me, of course I do.
Why do you think I objected so
strenuously when you were going to
give it all up?

B
You know, I wasn’t sure. I was
starting to think anyone could do
this. I didn’t realize you felt so
strongly that it had to be me.

A
Sure, anyone could do this...
Listen, anyone could step on the
moon, and anyone could score the
winning goal, and anyone, could
have served me a latte last week.
What we do with our lives is up to
us, and when given the opportunity
to rise above our status quo there
are but a few that grab the
opportunity and really make
something of it. Today, I like to
think we’re sharing that chance. I
could have gotten just anyone, but
I don’t want just anyone. . . I
want. No. Need, you. And togethe
we are going to change everything.

A beat
A (CONT’D)
Now, are you ready to jump in and
do this?

B
Anyone would be crazy not too.
