Mason's Dirty Gin

The description of this video goes as follows: “So you don’t believe that Mason’s Dirty Gin is the best gin on the market? Maybe this bartender and pirate can convince you otherwise.”

Honestly though, they didn’t. Instead, they gave across a clear, concise moral: “Don’t drink this crap; you’ll end up having sex with a dude, even if you don’t want to.” The trouble here is, I don’t think that that was intentional.

Honestly, I’m going to have to go with the consensus that this just wasn’t that interesting. Sure, Pirates are great, as are ninjas (that’s another story for another day); yet his presence in this sketch did not add the weight that this duet improv so desperately seemed to call for. A pirate isn’t just a character, it is a literary device; suck that goldmine dry.

I did laugh once, when the revelation comes at the end that this isn’t a Gin commercial at all. Other than that, though, I don’t think this reaches the par of your other work.

My personal opinion: In that Limbo stage between Crypt and Walking Tall. Again, the pirate was underplayed, a jewel unutilized and therefore unnecessary.
