Dear Uncle Jay, I saw your explanation of congressional recess some time ago. I was so pleased to find it again, as I now decided it was time to review it again. It seems, this year, that Congress intends to do absolutely nothing with the precious few days they have left, before the elections. Can you tell me how many days they are actually in session in a year. I was unable to freeze-frame your video so that I could count them. I would like to talk to my congressman about his work ethic. I retired about a month ago. I worked an average of 260 days a year for 45 years. More than that the first 20 or 30 years, about 235 days per year the last 15 years, or so. I was wondering if congress worked full time, maybe the USA wouldn’t be in such a sad condition. Could you help me with a count of those congressional “working days”? Thanks. Mike Casey
Uncle Jay,
District 5 of Mo’s House delegation is in for a shock! I am that shock! Chris is my name and stopping the stupid is my task. Wish me luck, while my dog Chance and I go to the store for some tainted chinese dog food, I mean Iams!
Great report on how 800 or so spend $3 Trillion! Thanks for the lesson!

I think this is pretty funny because it points out that “District work days” are scheduled to meet with actual constituents, or we, the represented. Unfortunately, until there is actual campaign finance reform, it really means even more meetings with lobbyists and people who can fund the next round of campaigning. We should use this information to hold the Congress to working at least a week longer than Bush has taken off each year for “vacation”. But, at least this should help Sen. Dodd as he valiantly battles to prevent the F’d up FISA bill from coming to a vote – less days to filibuster and less days for some sneaky effort to add it to another bill that nobody bothers to read in all their “District work” time.
