ha ha ha. they’re funny because they make you think they’re saying cunt and asshole. Also there’s some irony about the ribbons and suvs and oil and iraq.
To all those who feel that this is a mockery of the Iraq War supporters it isn’t the support they’re mocking. Its the fact that we’re in Iraq for oil and we have bastards back home who drive in SUVs taking up far too much fuel for one person. Its just a way to show the irony in a song. Love it!! I’ve seen these guys live so many times, it’s fun to see something like this… if they showed this kind of video on MTV or VH1 I might have kept my TV and cable subscription!
wollam1. I don’t disagree with your points but just wanted to give you the history of the ribbon. The yellow ribbon was originally for the Iran hostage crisis in 1979-1981. That was back when Iraq was our friend. Great video, song and sentiment.
Excellent. The whole ribbon thing started with AIDS awareness. The Republican Party perverted it’s intent and now we have deal with narcissists driving around in their SUVs. I avoid anyone with a ribbon; tells me what kind of a person they are.
that was great! Both funny and catchy too! I wish you would make more videos. Surely they would be just as entertaining as this one.
I also agree with LiseYates comment. Very well put.
this song was funny as hell and spamill, you are a crass ass with an opinion so hurtfull and ignorant that it more than passes as hate speach and is just plain damn un-American. just because you said it does not mean it is protected and should be allowed. you hurt others with comments like that and you should be ashamed and gratefull that you dont live in a... more >

At $92 a barrel, this response is not even close to being feeble. The purchase of a ribbon, may be well intentioned, as you infer, but reducing our reliance on foreign countries, with potentially different views and goals can only be responsible. We should reward buyers of vehicles w/ 35 mpg + and apply sanctions, extra taxes to Hummer drivers e... more >

Here is one member of the military who appreciates the magnetic ribbons whenever he sees one. Apparently for these performers, showing ones support is more about money than anything else. Who cares if a ribbon is cheap? It’s more about showing support. Aside from that, I’d like to know exactly what contributions the “Asylum Street Spankers” have made to the troops that enable them to disparage those with the audacity to show their support with a $1.39 ribbon.
The comments regarding Oil are so tired and feeble that they don’t even warrant a response.
Honestly, what is wrong with showing ones support for the troops? Even if it is with a cheap magnet? Like I said to begin with, I appreciate the sentiment greatly. I have had people stop me on the street when I was in uniform and shake my hand and thank me (they spent no money in doing so). It’s impossible to put into words how much that means. I wonder how many times the “Asylum Street Spankers” have done things of that nature.
It’s really unfortunate that the majority of people seem to want to turn the Iraq war into some sort of political horse race. They don’t want to tackle the real issues, like the implications that failure in Iraq would have, or propose solutions. They’d rather ridicule others over trivial matters such as magnetic ribbons.
This is SO CLEVER…and I LOVE “his” voice. I would encourage this group to expand their “observations & opinion repetoire” and go on the concert circuit. I give them a lot of credit, support & admiration. This kind of stand is not always easy to make…..I admire their brilliance and look forward to a sequel…and five front row tickets to their first musical!
