The show is really good. The writing really isn't single minded like this at all. Rather, it's a pretty accurate look at sports culture, and the culture of a smallish American town. Yes, it's a soap opera with its moments of melodrama, but it usually stays grounded and believable. This parody just isn't very insightful or funny.
