Some of us care, some of us don't. Many claim "indian" without a problem. Hell, most of us refer to the rez as "indian country". But yeah, "Native American" has certain colonial undertones to it so it can be equally offensive. If one can, it probably is best to refer to an Amerindian person by the nation they are descended from.
