Interesting. I think the scoring logic is screwy to begin with. it should be based on funny votes only imho. having a moderator isnt completely bad either if its done right. the problem is you're led to believe it's based on votes when it isnt apparently.

any ideas on how they should handle to caption contest voting? It would be nice to have something that discouraged the die-bombers.

I think that you should only be able to funny or die one caption each. That way you save them for people who deserve funny or die. The way it's set up now everyone just down votes everything. So the person with the least amount of dies wins, vs the person with the most funnies.

All of it is useless though since they don't pick a winner based on votes. It's really just a big time waster.

Yes sir it is, I was in first place less then an hour before it closed the other day. And some random persons quote was the winner.

And if you notice the post I made was in first all day and is still in first. But the guy who was in like 6th place is the winning vote even though I am like +8 for funnies.

The votes clearly mean nothing other then what is "popular" I have personally seen them choose at least 2 winners that were not in even in the top 5.

Did you know, a winning caption has nothing to do with votes ? Whatever mod is in charge actually just picks whatever caption he likes best and it wins.

Yesterdays winner wasn't even in the top 10 for votes, but won. . .
