Nedy John Cross started performing from the age of 4. His parents were
both working actors in the musical theatre. Nedy recalls, “My mom took me
to the shows every day, then one day I was on stage, and that was the
start of it all. Every day after school I was classically trained in music
school to play the piano and sing. By the age of 14 years I rebelled and
started my first rock band, Damon.”
In the 1990’s, Nedy’s second band, Minaton, was a combination of
Bulgarian and German artists. They formed a big following across Europe,
often playing up to 35,000 people at festivals like Ukraine’s Kahovka
Festival and Poland’s Sopot Festival.
By early the 2000’s, his third band, Rockland Riders, was a Radio Band
from Germany’s largest Rock Station, Rockland Sachsen Anhalt. They
performed alongside artists like Deep Purple, Ronnie James Dio, Nazareth,
Uriah Heep, Eric Burdon, Manfred Mann's Earth Band, Roger Chapman,
Saga, Hooters, Simple Minds and Bob Geldof. It was also during this time
that Nedy established his own state-of-the-art recording studio. “I am
thankful to have the time to write and produce songs. When I am deep in
myself, and in my world, it is like my own movie. My vision, when I write a
song, comes from the inspiration around me: people, situations, feelings,
stories, all the special moments in my life and in the lives of others. I
cannot change the world with my music, but I can help, and I want people
to understand what I mean with my music. Happiness, pain, lies – only the
real life.This is important for me.”
Nedy’s music and producing skills have been sought after from all over the
world. Aside from producing and writing the material for the 9 albums he
released with his bands, and as a solo artist, Nedy wrote and produced the
music for the Rockland Riders Radio Band in Germany. He also wrote the
music for a 1999 Hyundai Car Commercial , the World Championship of Ice
Hockey in 2001 and composed the hymns for the Hamburg, Hanover 96
and Magdeburg Soccer clubs in Germany. His latest completed project, the
score to the Sci-Fi Feature Film, Humanity’s End, was been reviewed by
many as one of the better movie soundtrack albums of 2009. Featuring a
live orchestra and choir, this soundtrack has opened the doors for him to
write for more films. Nedy is presently composing and recording a rock
opera to be released later this year.
“Getting the chance to work with the orchestra made me realize how
connected I was to the music I rebelled against in my youth. Writing music
for film offers so many different ways to communicate the emotions I want
to convey. My focus now is to create more opportunities that will allow me
to keep exploring this style of writing and continue my musical journey.
Having my own production facility, and an amazing pool of talent at my
disposal, makes me confident that this will happen.”
