Weird, crazy, warm, and probably thinks too much are some of the many comments made about stand-up comedian Byron Filler. Byron was born September 7th, 1989 in Santa Monica and would later be diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in 1992. Specifically diagnosed with Classical Autism, his parents were told that he would be unable to speak and be a participating member of a normal society. Contrary to this diagnosis Byron has strived to not only become a functioning member of society but also be able to speak about his experience having Autism using stand-up comedy. In 2006 Byron interned with comedian/motivational speaker Judy Carter and participated in her Comedy Workshops. Since then Byron has performed at the Hollywood Improv, the Comedy Store, the Ha Ha Café, and many other locations in Los Angeles as well as outside of California. In 2008, he began attending Hampshire College. In his time at Hampshire, Byron has worked with local comedy sketch groups of the pioneer valley including Half a Girl and the Natural Disaster Club, and has stared in student films, such as ThunderFuck: Genesis. He continues to work as a comedian in Los Angeles as well as with Hampshire’s established stand-up collective, Crew Team comedy. « less
