8. Movie Spoilers!

Comedians LOVE twitter. Aziz Ansari, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel, Scott Aukerman, Rob Corddry, our own Eric Appel – they love it. So when Paul, Rob and Scott organized a twitter event in the back row of Crank 2: High Voltage, it was CRAZY! The guys had theater approval before going in and planned to stay in the back row as to not disturb other movie goers. At first, there wasn’t any trouble. They live tweeted the movie and everyone was having fun. Check the transcript.

Then the bonehead part starts. A bunch of movie bloggers who weren’t even in the theater started freaking out. They thought it would encourage other movie goers to use their phones during movies. Basically sounding like a bunch of angry old ladies and they used their twitters to whine about it.

Someone from AICN tweeted back:
“Come on, man. Theaters are movie geek churches. You have to show respect of the place and the people around you”

“There’s no difference between what you’re doing now and what the loud teenagers constantly txting during movies do”

"I know it’s Crank 2, I know it’s funny and you think it’s innocent fun, but it’s incredibly disrespectful. Unless you rented out the theater and it’s just you and your buddies you’re in the wrong here, however discrete you guys are.”

A CHUD blogger got really upset:
"Solemn promise: if I am at a movie where @firstshowing is twittering, I will smash his fucking phone"

It got more and more heated and finally Paul Scheer chimed in:
“If you were upset about this, please don’t go see the midnight screening of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. You’d be mortified.”

Come on, which team would you be on?
