The Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia, Jeff Frederick (screen name: JeffFrederick) updates his Twitter about all aspects of his job. Including revealing a plan his party had to court one of the Democratic State Senators to his side of the aisle in order to sway a tie-breaking vote. Frederick tweeted this to the world:

“Big news coming out of Senate: Apparently one dem is either switching or leaving the dem caucus. Negotiations for power sharing underway.”

Smart Dems were following Frederick’s tweets and were tipped off on the plan. Democrats adjourned the session to prevent the switch and took the time to speak to the State Senator themselves, who then saw the error of his ways.

A little extra back-story on the man who ruined the strategy: Jeff Frederick is  known for firing up campaign volunteers by comparing Barack Obama to Osama bin Laden using talking points like, “Both have friends that bombed the Pentagon.” So maybe it’s not surprising that he’s made some other bad decisions.
