Oddsmakers breaks down the replacements in no particular order.
12 replacements, with the odds of them actually becoming a replacement of Steve Carell.
Best way to explain Oddsmakers is as if you are looking at a Horse Racing Form.
Nobody can truly replace Steve Carellâs talents on The Office. Michael Scott is the lovable idiot. No matter how hard he tries to do something right, more then likely he makes himself look like a fool. Michael Scott takes everything to the extreme, but, thatâs why he is so lovable. Scott tries to be the best boss in the world, which ends up making him look like the worst boss in the world.
So, as you all know, Steve Carell will be leaving The Office after next season to be more involved in his movie career. Carell stars in Dinner With Schmucks, which comes out today and looks HILARIOUS I might add. So, Itâs still awhile away before Carell leaves, but, letâs take a look at some possible replacements in todayâs Netwerk debut of Oddsmakers.
As bad-ass as this would be, itâs not going to happen. Will Ferrell is too busy being a movie star to become a star of a TV show. The ratings for The Office would defiantly stay to form, if not go up if Will replaced Steve. Will Ferrell is the way to go.
Why pay another star to come in when you have cast members who can take over right now? You got Rainn Wilson, Jenna Fischer, Ed Helms and Craig Robinson. Any of these cast members will make due for a series that is destined to end in a season or two.
Alec wants out of 30 Rock when his contract expires, so, this canât be too far out of the realm of possibilities. Alec has experience, star quality, and great comedic timing. His attitude in the characters he plays are polar opposites of Carell. This can be a welcome change.
NPH. Another amazing wish list actor to replace Carrel. This is another sucker bet. But, once in a blue moon those sucker bets come in and pay off big time. If NPH wasnât so busy with How I Met Your Mother and filming the next White Castle movie, I might of bet on it.
This is a bet I would take. While I donât see it happening, hereâs a few reason why I would bet on it. Ken already works for NBCs Community, he is a up in comer with a fan base, he isnât popular enough to be strictly a âMovie Starâ and is funny enough to take over Carrels spot.
The question isnât why, but, why not? The Office would be in just as much trouble if Steve was to stay and John was to leave. John, heâs one of the big boys now. I wouldnât be surprised if he doesnât renew his contract. My money would go on John becoming the âStarâ.
The Office purists will tell you that Carell has nothing on Gervais when it comes to playing the boss. I can see Gervais teasing everyone by making an appearance on one episode of The Office after Carrel leaves. As for a permanent replacement, itâs a sucker bet.
Willard has the experience to jump onto an established series and fit right in. The only reason I canât see this happening is because itâs hard to picture Willard as a leading man. Fred is at his best when he plays the comic relief. I hope he can prove me wrong.
Louis C.K will never have be on a network show. Why? Because no one in Hollywood is smart enough to give it to him. C.K would be a perfect to replace Carrel. He would bring a whole new vibe and attitude to The Office. I wouldnât even bet a dollar on this, but its a nice dream.
Iâm not a big Will Arnett fan, but, I can see him being a great fit. If you Google âSteve Carell replacmentâ you will see that people around the net happen to agree with me. If you ask for it, the studio sometimes listens and thats why Will Arnett is the 2nd favorite behind JK.
The only Filly on the list. In my opinion, Fey is the female counterpart to Steve Carell. If it wasnât for her Emmy award winning gig on 30 Rock, I would bet on Fey fitting in perfect on The Office and being a great Carrel replacement.
Our favorite fake reality show cop would be a great fit on The Office. Thomas plays a great screw-up, and thatâs what Carell does best. Lennon would play a better paper salesman, then a manager. Now that Reno 911 has been canceled, I give Thomas Lennon a fair shot.
