John Powers

doesn't like camping... at some point people get intense. (my website) A native New Yorker, John Powers grew up on Long Island. He attended a small liberal arts college in the Northeast, and fell in love with the thrill of live performance art. His quick wit and slightly askew view of the world lend his comedy to exaggerated, abstract (yet obvious) truths. John played the lead roles in shorts Tuesday, Dark Light, The Cara Sham. He also appeared on American Idol, Salt, Cupid, Kings, Mother May I, Maury Povich, and The Roast of John Powers! When not on stage, John designs graphics for TV. His work has been seen on ESPN, SportsNet NY, Golf Channel, CBS and NBC... and he won an Emmy Award in 2004 for SportsCenter. The Power Hour show has been taking place once a month for 5 years now, and resides at EastVille Comedy club. John Powers has performed at Caroline's, EastVille, Stand-Up NY, Laugh Lounge, Comix, Laugh Factory, Orlando Improv, Comic Strip Live, Gotham, Comedy Club, NY Comedy Club, Broadway Comedy Club
