Gay Marriage

Did anyone watch those debates? How can even the liberal candidates skirt this issue so obviously and it be okay?

It is frusturating. I wish someone would take a hard stand in support of this issue. But, it is still such a political risk which makes me angry and sad.

At least it is being talked about more and more, which I think is a catalyst for change.

I’d like to think the country is taking steps in the right direction when it comes to gay marriage… Is that just wishful thinking on my part, though?

Definitely agree that its a shame that none of the “first-tier” candidates are standing up for this issue, but I think that’s just political calculus, which is often cold and harsh. On the bright side, I impossible to look at the way the debate is framed now and compare it to 2004 and 2000 and not see that there has been tremendous movement in where the “center” of the debate resides.

i totally agree. there has been movement. just said that it’s taken til 2007 to have it even discussed. But yes, things are moving forward. Did you see Melissa Etheridge’s question? so awesome!

last week iowa got on the gay marriage bandwagon- it’s exciting that people are FORCING this issue to be dealt with.

gay people should have the right to get married, then soon devorced

Well surveys suggest that the gay wedding industry could be worth as much as £600m by 2010! That’s just in the UK. We’re the same size as Florida! Come on America – Florists, Hotels, Stationers, Musicians, Photographers, Bakers, Tailors and Strippers all over the country! Think of the money! See those dollar signs fly before your eyes.

I may have a soulution that both sides might agree with… legalize gay marriage and make it illegal for gays to get a divorce….ok just a goofy thought
