60 Minutes is a great show. Ranks up there with Hardball and Meet the Press on being intelligent and (in my opinion) politically unbiased.

So last night, 60 has a segment called “Exonerated” in which 17 (count them SEVENTEEN) guys serving long prison terms (some as many as 27 years) have been proven to be not guilty. Mostly due to DNA samples that are available now that weren’t in the 70’s when some were convicted.

They went on to say that the prosecutor- an idiot named Wade (yep, same Roe v. guy) hid evidence, lied, and directed all his prosecutors to get guilty verdicts at any cost.

It was then Scott Pelley asked the question-

“So, if this many men have been sent to prison as innocent men, does it cross your mind that it’s more than likely an innocent man has been executed for a crime he didn’t commit?”

“Yes” was the resounding answer.

The state of Texas has not changed since the 1800’s. The mentality of ‘string ‘em up and ask questions later’ still rules.

It starts with people like Bush- who believe it’s a sin to kill unborn (and unformed) fetuses, yet have no problems extinguishing life of possible killers, including people with IQ’s in the 40’s.

I fail to see how you can be for one and against the other.

The “Lone Star State” should become the “State Where Cowboys Rule, Lee Van Cleef is the Chief Justice, We Shoot Illegal’s on Sight, and Ain’t No Child Left Behind Laws Gonna Help us”

Please, Texas, succeed from the Union.
