SB7, Your Dad sounds like a wonderful man. I always enjoy listing to the stories of our elders. My Dad fought in WWII and would not tell any stories for many many years. It was just to emotionally painful. Over the last couple of years hes has been telling us more of his memories from that time. These include battles he was in and the many men he lost as a Seargent. He saw Mussolini when he as hanged and met Pope Pious. I really enjoy these stories and relish in them as he is 90 years old and is dementia is starting to set in. Anyway that’s my old man story.

oh, I love this & the picture you painted of the neighbourhoods & of your dad. My cousin & her husband drive rigs together…she was always very strong having to lift & toss hay bales onto the hay wagon before the giant balers they have now. No doubt you have that same strength both physically & mentally.

Dad sounds like a really cool guy. Is he still with us?

As for the GF roach, I would have popped a cold pepsi and split it with him- sounds like he was thirsty. Then, his relatives could be your dad’s allies and wipe out any store that didn’t take care of him come christmas.

Nice blog!

Once watched a small boy play with a 8" toy cockroach in a store. Turn it over, mess underneath, set it down, let it skitter across the floor, repeat. Mom called, he ran off & presently the “toy” reared up, shook itself & stared me down till I ran off in the opposite direction. Your Dad was telling the truth! YIKES!! Great blog!
