great blog (i almost felt guilty about laughing at BobJake’s comment because…well, your sentiments here are pretty close to my own on the subject). loved the spock analogy (also, one of my favorite episodes). and amie mann is awesome…though she was disappointing when i saw her live, but that might have had more to do with the fact that she had to follow ben folds (who is practically a musical savant…his genius is HIGHLY underappreciated). you really should check out kevin gilbert if you want to see truly brillant lyrics (i bet you’d like the words from the album ‘toy matinee’ specifically the song ‘turn it on salvador’. my favorite amie mann stuff has always been the magnolia soundtrack…her music fits so perfectly with the images Paul Thomas Anderson provides…truly remarkable.

McPartlands holds nothing back and writes the likes of: Tom Wolfe (The Right Stuff, 1979), Gay Talese (Thy Neighbor’s Wife, 1980), and Hunter S. Thompson (The Curse of Lono, 1983}.
