PITCH ADVICE
So what have you learned about pitching say, a comedy animation web series? I know the basics, Log Line, Series Description, Character Description, a Script, Bios of Cast and Crew, and ideas for episodes.
I’m told I get too technical. I’m like, “We’re at animatics. We have title treatment, voice recorded and mostly engineered…” Blah, blah. My friend who is used to making pitches says I need to quit that.
One of my friends says you pitch in threes, always have three ideas so if they say, what else do you have? You have something. I don’t know that that’s always feasable.
I am always the catcher….but really I am on this quest myself. I want to write comedy or erotic fiction, maybe we can get together and pound out some ideas.
I actually was hoping for a little guidance ‘cause people here are in the know. I have a team of 10 people on this puppy and I want us to be able to continue and for their time not to be in vein. I’m not playing around…If someone has some advice to share you can email me too…TIA
i’ll look at their site soon, thanks. I think my script formatting came from them. I’m usually producer/production manager, not writer you are right, they might have info on this. And I’ve been doing more writing anyway.

You can’t just join the Writers Guild. It’s not like joining a motor club. You have to sell a script or be hired as a staff writer. there’s a point system. You can register your work with the WGA, but that has nothing to do with joining. As far as pitches go, you need to attract someone with connections to the project. Your best bet is an established actor, producer or director.
The best way to get attention for your project is to make short webisode versions of the show and post it here or YouTube.

I see, I did register my script through them. I’m more production manager/producer than writer anyway. I have shot and edited television stories and had other jobs, like Associate Producer and photojournalist that are on the fringe of being a writer. But that may not be relevant.
We’re going to finish our 5 minute pilot episode and then will have to sell with that video and additional script/treatment (if we can sell it). There is a limit to what I’m going to ask people to do for free. But it’s good to know that I am on the right track…

Don’t be afraid to ask people to volunteer time. If you have a strong belief in your project and can easily get people excited about it, you’ll be amazed to find out how much help you can get for free. I don’t know what your project is, but match it to someone well known in the industry and try to reach them. It’s not easily accomplished, but it is something you should include in your strategy.
