The new Moving Stories Film Festival is all about celebrating books and the written word on film. We’re calling for submissions from filmmakers who have created original films based on published literary works. From mini-docs, illustrated author interviews, drama and comedy to animation and filmic experiments of all kinds, films which take their narrative and subject from the landscape of a novel, non-fiction book or a poem, are becoming a recognized new genre. Moving Stories is providing a stage for these films, celebrating the differences these complementary media have for one another.
We are currently accepting film submissions, preferably under 15 minutes in duration, that are adapted from a written source. The final deadline is May 15. Visit www.movingstoriesfilmfest.com for guidelines and more details.
The Moving Stories Film Festival will tour across the country to public literary and film festivals such as Ottawa Writers Festival, WordFest: Banff-Calgary International Writers Festival, Vancouver International Writers Festival, St. John’s Intl Women’s Film Fest, and venues in Toronto.
Festival Programmer: Paul Quarrington (award- winning author and filmmaker); Festival Film Advisors: Robert Lantos (Serendipity Points Films); Anne Collins (Random House of Canada); Sarah Polley (Director/Writer/Actor); Nino Ricci (Author); Judith Keenan BookShorts Literacy Program)
