New Site Features April 2008

Hey Funny or Die users, we just did a big release with a bunch of significant features. Here’s a list of the major ones:

• Import your address book from Gmail, Yahoo, or Hotmail—go into your address book in your profile to access this.

• Profile page customization: In addition to choosing a profile theme, you can now customize that theme with custom colors and images using a snappy little color picker.

• Better events featuring rich text descriptions, photos and links, and now you can map the location of your event using Google Maps! Also we are displaying your comments and the form underneath the event in case your fans want to comment on it.

• Autoplay can be turned off now for web series & playlists—you’ll see a little checkbox over the “SHARE” button in the player. This should help you comment and vote without worrying the next video will load before you’re finished, if that was vexing you before.

• New Digg tab next to related videos on the videos page; see which Funny or Die videos are on Digg right now! Digging the videos in the “upcoming” category will propel them to Popular, which is a very good thing in the Diggiverse. But whether you Digg these videos or not, it’s an ever-updating list of what other people think is great on Funny or Die for you to enjoy and use to find great videos.

• You can now save drafts of blog posts to preview them or publish at a later time, and now your blog posts will show up in your subscribers’ feeds.

What’s the status on the “replace video” feature?

you know what would be really cool, a delete all button for email messages and sent messages……i’m too lazy to do them individually so i don’t then i have all of these messages cluttering up my in and sent box. thanks for reading!!

Tarafara, we are working on this! The tradeoff is that you’ll have a super long page so that you can do a “select all” without pagination, but for batch processes like bulk delete, we think it’s worth it. You should see this feature coming out SOON.

i know it’s may and this topic is for april features but did you see the NEW RATING ICONS!! they look awesome. i love ‘em.

i LOVE the new mail features, and the new look!!! my in and sent box are finally clean….it feels like i’ve cleaned the cat box out for the first time in months!!

I’m not too crazy about the redesign. Now there’s even LESS videos on the front page!

I’m not sure how the new DIGG feature works. I don’t see the new feature you are referring to. Of course, I could be blind! Help us blind folks! – steph

So, Now there is a caption contest on this, and it is super fun by the way. How do we find out who won the previous day, or even days. isn’t that one of the points? to find out?

I think it looks a lot harder for a user to get people to see their content on the site now.
