14 Movies Adam McKay and Will Ferrell Think You Should See Before You Die

I cannot dispute any film that Adam put on this list. They are all gems. That having been said, I have put together an auxiliary list that if watched, might make you say to yourself, "Wait a minute...I'm glad I watched these before I died, as well!"
- Will Ferrell

I made a point of not putting in Jaws, Star Wars, Apocalypse Now, Goodfellas or any of the movies that are on every human being’s top ten list. These are movies that I have seen 20 times each. There's also a slight chance you haven't seen every one.
- Adam McKay

Next: Goodfellas

Agreed with "Sound of Music" but must quibble with "nationalism" point. Movie was extremely pro-nationalism (pro-Austrian). The Captain was motivated by a deeply conservative, nationalist nostalgia for old Austria, and his sense of "creativity" was to embrace the classic Austrian cultural touchstones, like the waltz and "Eddelweis". But with that said, movie lauded creativity as a portal to joyfulness, community and love. Those Austrians who embraced Nazism were condemned, not because Nazism was portrayed negatively, but because it sought to negate Austrian nationalism. The villains were those Austrians who lacked the Captain's romantic love for old Austria.

I'd replace "Nights in Cabiria" with "Nights in Rodanthe"...
