I think it depends on the series. Certain shows, like The Wire, are like a novel. If you watch a single episode by itself, out of context, you're not going to understand everything. Recommending the best episodes of that show would be like recommending the best chapters in a book.

I think the most egregious example of Boomer narcissism was during the '04 election. Remember? While in the middle of a CURRENT WAR HAPPENING RIGHT NOW the talking heads wouldn't shut up about what the candidates did in Vietnam, a war that ended before a lot of the soldiers fighting and dying in Iraq were even born. Hopefully, now that Obama's been elected, we'll be spared any more of the Boomer's inter-generational psycho-drama. This was a great post, James.
