I think the whole thing was meant to be a parody on the situation. Also, pointing out what is said within the Christian doctrine is hardly attacking what "they" hold sacred. Its showing that the verses condemning homosexuality are on the same level, within the Bible, as those that say a man can stone his wife, or that shellfish is an abomination.
