In 1990, during Bush Sr's economic downturn (it's a family thing, I guess), I did a non-union commercial that was only supposed to run for a weekend over Xmas. It was more a favor for a friend than a paycheck, but afterward, I was turned into the union brass by a "fellow" member (who must have magnanimously not have been asked to do the ad himself).
