The Birth of a Monster Derk Jickface started the band one night with Lagassi way back when… decades ago. Derk had just got his first computer software for music production and he just met Lagassi at their job at a gas station named Trojan Gas in Brockton, MA. During a long night of substance abuse, they figured they could just create a band… and Brothermaniac was born. But the idea was in its infancy. And the only 2 members never released an album or a single or anything coherent for that matter. Beaten down, broken, poverty stricken and spoiled by drugs, the duo were co dependent with misery. The horrors of death and the inability to enjoy life caused Derk and Lagassi to continue traveling down the wrong path. The path to destruction. The Forming Brotherhood Fast forward 10 years or so to when Jack Awesome, a life long friend of Derk’s who grew up down the street, decided he wanted to somehow express his talent for being the best ever at video games. He decided he should write a song about his awesomeness so he asked a then clinically depressed Derk to get off the couch, stop wasting his life, and help him out. Within a couple days, they had written and recorded the song “Jack Awesome.” Inspired by the quickness of the song’s production and impressed by Jack’s enthusiasm to make more songs, Derk started to record music again tis time as a kind of therapy… which eventually led to actual therapy and medication. All of a sudden, things started not to suck for Derk. Even the multi talented Sir Charles, who Derk used to jam with years before, started hanging out again and he too lent his talents into the mix. Derk was still in touch with Lagassi(who is now married with 3 kids) and they decided to resurrect the idea of becoming a band. The two original members managed to rock steady with the new band mates and quickly began manufacturing song after song. The newly formed Brothermaniac generated an idea, anAWESOME idea. They just needed one more character to make the monster come alive. One more animal to savagely pump some beats and rip the mic apart. Mock Dog was then set loose. Trial and Error Within 4 months in 2010, Brothermaniac had published 2 “demo” albums available for online distribution. This was a testing time to see if the band could function as a whole and a learning period for the brothers. Although their first two releases were hurriedly produced and released, it was all they could do with the decade old computer, one microphone, and noisy mixing board. Recently upgraded with new equipment and software, Brothermaniac is now prepared to release their triple album terror. The Five Headed Monster Unleashed Considered offensive by the close minded and dismissed by listeners of “mainstream” music as too confusing, Brothermaniac continues to mold their different influences into a unique sound of their own. The five hot headed, stubborn, opinionated grown men now stand face to face with their individual quirks and personal struggles, and use their character flaws and inner demons as inspiration for new material. They will continue to rock out bass pounding jams and fist pumping anthems. They will not give up or apologize. You never know what they’ll do next. No subject is taboo or too offensive for the maniac brothers.
