The characters are no longer seen in traditional terms- as having a backstory or three dimensional personalities- but instead are imbued with an overarching essence of “awesomeness” (not to be confused with “radness”). Perhaps they are calling our attention to Brecht and his cold and distant reimagining of the social landscape. I’ll have to think about that theory some more. Right after I close my eyes and pretend I’m a woman.

Good point brokenwood…but on the other hand all we need to know about both characters is “they’re awesome” You see by Awesome-fying the base players (known here as Mustache and sunglasses) we don’t need to focus on Idea – you see they are already awesome. And by simplifying the situation (premise, if you will) we left to focus on the important thing in not only the characters but all our lives. Manly KICKING BUTT, TAKING NAMES, AND HIGH-FIVING..WOOOOO

Funny start, but the joke doesn’t build. If we look at this scene in Arisotilian terms, there is too much focus on action (the high five) and not enough foucs on idea (why are these men compelled to high-five one another?). The characters are also lacking. From what we are shown, all we really gleam from the mustachioed fellow is that he likes sunglasses and that he is gay. Perhaps if they threw in some spectacle. Like maybe a dinosaur or maybe Steven Spielberg himself.
