Here's the deal all you caption contest junkies.
For a while i've felt I could take the best caps and use them to run a 20 minute open mic night standup routine. And that's exactly what I'm going to challenge you guys and gals to do.
The idea is simple. I'm going to frame out the basics for the bit and you all can weigh in, and then we're going to spend a couple of days commenting out each piece to perfection.
Once the bit is complete, we're each going to PERFORM IT in our respective home towns during an open mic night and UPLOAD THE VIDEO as proof.
Then we'll vote on who delivered it the best and REPEAT.

I don't own a video camera, but I'm down to contribute to the writing. If someone wants to come to AZ and tape me performing, that might work, too.
good idea...no vid camera, no idea of uploading, no open mic, I can be an asshole tho if that helps. Best of luck.

love the idea Pat...I would contribute as best I can in writing, but performing is my Achilles Whole Body (my couple of videos attest to how atrocious I am on cam).
keep us posted...that really is a great idea to snowball individual posts into a bit or story
You're a funny guy & I think the idea is stellar, but if you think I'm gonna hand out free material when you don't even subscribe I'll tell you where to put that mic.
I like it, definitely down like a clown charlie brown for the writing. I've never been on stage, been wanting to for the past year or so. Have you done much stand up?
I have never done standup at all.
I've had a friend or two that's done some improv but never had the drive to do it myself.
I run a small software consulting company and the idea is an extension of what drives open source software: working together yields better results than toiling alone.

Great idea, but alas, I only do sitdown routines (they stink), got no video cam, and this town has tragedy clubs but no comedy.
