Many thanks to dkent for serving as a yesterday's guest judge. Here's what he had to say:

What is often considered the best haiku ever written goes like this:

The falling flower
I saw drift back to the branch
Was a butterfly.

I agree it's the best mainly because of the twist at the end that quickly changes your whole perspective of the imagery and also says something quite profound. While I'm not expecting anything profound from these, I do believe a good twist is what takes a haiku to the next level. The Gold medal here accomplished this, the others were just funny.

Bronze: Williboy - DON'T EVER FUCK PIGS
THEY SQUEAL ON YOU EVERY TIME
JUST KISS ON THE LIPS

Silver: Jason2k1 - Young Sara Palin
was glad to learn you CAN put
lipstick on a pig.

Gold: Macspruce - A-a-w-w-w, cute little guy
Let me get a closer look ...
E-e-w-w-w, yuck, baby germs!

Congratulations MacSpruce. You now have the choice to either serve as guest judge or handpick someone you'd like to serve in your place.

Today is going to be a little different. It's all about LIMERICKS!
Here's a photo to inspire your Gaelic poesy.
