Director Christopher Nolan took to the internet today to reveal what he thinks will make The Dark Knight Rises stand out among all other Batman movies...comic book sound bubbles.
While moviegoers can still expect to be wowed by new villains, state of the art gadgetry and IMAX filmmaking, Nolan insists the difference-maker was this last minute addition that almost didn’t make the final cut.
“I was screening the film one afternoon, and couldn’t help but feel something was lacking. Then, out of nowhere, THWAP!, it hit me like a punch to the solar plexus, and I thought, ‘This film needs some of those campy sound bubbles!’”
According to Nolan, the late addition made all the difference. "I added a few ZONKS!, a handful of POWS!, some BLAMS!, and a few well-placed KUNTS! It added a touch of authenticity that, frankly, the other Batman movies just don't have."
Nolan thinks the audience will appreciate the sound bubbles and the sense of realism they bring. "Now fans will get to know what it feels like to get kicked in the nuts by Bane. It feels like URFFFFT!"
