Anyone who’s ever erected one for the holidays knows that disposing of a Christmas tree isn’t the easiest thing ever. But rather than setting it on fire, chopping it to bits, or donating it to the local Boy Scout troop, why not feed it to an elephant? Strange as it sounds, that’s exactly what happened at the Berlin Zoo, where positively pleased pachyderms, including a baby girl named ‘Anschali,’ were treated to a post-Christmas feast of discarded trees. We don’t think a needle-laden fir tree would be that appetising, but apparently everyone has their own dietary preferences.
