“Please don’t cry. It’s just a little racism.”

Daniele Watts is an actress in LA who’s appeared in a number of films and television shows, including “Django Unchained.” She’s also African-American, married to a white gentleman, and 100% over your shit.

In a facebook post, Watts details how the NYPD detained her after seeing her kiss her white husband. “Today I was handcuffed and detained by 2 police officers from the Studio City Police Department after refusing to agree that I had done something wrong by showing affection, fully clothed, in a public place,” she wrote. She told Buzzfeed that the police handcuffed her and demanded to know the nature of her relationship with her husband - implying that she was a prostitute and he was her john.

Watts, who is awesome, appears to have aggressively sobbed throughout her entire detainment, to the obvious consternation of the cops. “I deeply enjoyed connecting with the cops who detained me. I allowed myself to be honest about my anger, frustration, and rage as tears flowed from my eyes. The tears I cry for a country that calls itself ‘the land of the free and the home of the brave’ and yet detains people for claiming that very right,"she wrote.

I don’t think any of us can count on encountering cops with enough of a sense of shame to be bothered by tears, but after a horrible summer for civil rights and police brutality, we can all, in some small way, enjoy the quiet panic on that cop’s face.
