Another great day for white people in Ohio.

A grand jury chose not to indict the police officers who shot an African-American man to death in a Walmart today. John Crawford III was shot in a Beavercreek, Ohio Walmart while carrying a pellet gun that he had picked up in the store.

The authorities also released surveillance footage of Crawford, in which he can be seen casually picking up the gun and carrying it around the store, sometimes with the barrel pointing down, sometimes over his shoulder. At no point was he carrying a real gun, but Walmart also sells those and it’s legal to carry them around.

The man who called 911, Ronald Ritchie, white, said in his 911 call that Crawford was “walking around with a gun in the store…like, pointing it at people.” He also said that Crawford was loading the gun.

He later recanted this, saying, “At no point was he pointing the gun at anyone.”

Ritchie, whose false statements led to a man’s death, is not being charged with a crime either. Cool! Another great day for white people in Ohio.
