I'll admit it... I was more than a LITTLE satisfied to see Conan O'Brien finally take his long awaited "table" at the Tonight Show. Of course... NBC probably couldn't afford to break their contract with him this time... as they seem to have simply have moved Leno up to 10pm. Whatever. I don't care really. Leno was never really my type of comic...
With all due respect to Mr. Leno... he was no Jack Benny, Jack Parr... nor Johnny Carson.
What rocked for me watching the first 2 weeks of the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien... was watching the excitement of those involved... Andy Rictor's back... as is Max Weinberg. And both the guests and the audience have been super-excited.
The show is edgy, and highly amusing. As Conan desperately tries to "behave" for the show, it seems those around him are "bent" on causing him trouble.
I admit it... I was a fan of Conan's a long time ago... but gradually grew bored of his "Late Night" show... but as he transitions to the "Tonight Show" his edge is BACK, and his humor is more sophisticated... although it still defiantly carries his "signature."
So... if you haven't yet... I recommend you check out the newly revived "Tonight Show" with Conan O'Brien... or at least TiVO it.
So in closing... for those who missed it... I'll describe the entrance of Conan's FIRST guest on the Tonight Show...
FOD's own fearless leader... Will Ferrell.
Who was carried onstage on a liter carried by four men dressed in costume.
But then... are you really that surprised?
