Following a torrent of backlash causing Pepsi to pull its tone-deaf protest advertisement featuring Kendall Jenner, the company has quickly responded by releasing limited edition cans of its soda inscribed with an “L.”
“Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding. Clearly, we missed the mark, and we apologize,” Pepsi posted online in a statement.
“To make up for it, we are releasing limited edition ‘L’ cans to commemorate the L we just took. Looks like we’re pretty up-to-date on our lingo, huh? :)”
A company source told us the new cans will hit the shelves tomorrow at grocery stores in Ferguson, Baltimore, Baton Rouge, and St. Paul, among other select cities nationwide.
The source added that despite pulling the Jenner ad, Pepsi would continue using the phrase “Live For Now,” given how the beverage’s negative health effects make living tomorrow less and less likely.
