Patriotic Duty

Have you noticed that members of Congress “American people” us to death? Almost every other sentence is “the American people want X” or “the American people deserve Y.” It’s as if they’re worried we’ll forget we’re Americans during the 4 minutes they’re talking. And they’re right: I often forget – consciously that is. Do you go around thinking, “I’m American”? Unless it’s July 4 or you’ve just become a U.S. citizen, probably as often as you think, “I’m human.” So thanks, Congress! What other “helpful” reminders do members of Congress provide?
