Amare and Melo wondering what they’re doing still playing basketball when they really don’t have to at this point in the year

The New York Knicks are down 0-2 to the Miami Heat in the first round of the NBA playoffs, and they couldn’t care less, because they never wanted a post-season experience anyway!

Jeremy Lin: Possibly the only member of the 2012 Knicks that had any interest in playing in the NBA playoffs

Continuing a streak of disappointment typically reserved for the New York Mets, the New York Knicks have extended their playoff losing streak to 12 games, dating all the way back to 2001.

But unlike Knicks of past years, this squad didn’t even want to make the postseason in the first place, according to reports and attitudes surrounding the team.

“Unfortunately, half of the teams in the NBA make the playoffs,” coach Mike Woodson said, “and while this team is not championship contender material, we are better than half the teams in the entire league.”

“Do you really think we’d want to be in the playoffs, facing a team like the Miami Heat? You think we want Lebron James, who passed on the city of New York, to come to town humiliate us? Of course not! Maybe if [Carmelo] would pass the ball occasionally, I could throw up some three-point shots and we could essentially Hail Mary this entire series… it’s probably our best chance,” Steve Novak told reporters.

Amare & Melo Having Fun Once

Adding insult injury to injury, veteran power forward Amare Stoudemire would rather punch a fire extinguisher than play basketball with Carmelo Anthony.

“It’s a mess,” super fan Spike Lee said. “But not even a hot enough mess to make into a movie. It doesn’t get much worse than that.”
