CHICAGO, IL- Local homeless man Alex Shafer had never received more than $5 from a stranger outside of the United Center before, at least until after the game Sunday December 8. “This guy was so pumped about the win he dropped ten dollars into my cup. I didn’t know what to do at first,” said the 42-year-old man who has been living on the streets of Chicago for half a decade now. “I asked him if I could get a picture of him to tape to my cup, because it meant so much to me.” Before every home Blackhawks game you can now find Shafer sitting out front with his “Thomas Daniels” begging cup. Donate more than ten dollars and you may be lucky enough to have a begging cup named after you!
