Sadly, I have been unable to identify any overlap amongst and/orbetwixt men and woman who served as attendants or groomsmen at the September12, 1953 wedding of John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Lee Bouvier and “Dukes ofHazzard” characters. Interestingly though, “Charles Bartlett” is the name of both the man who introduced Kennedy and Miss Bouvier and a gentleman who appeared in Season 4 Episode 24 of “Dukes”.

Charles Bartlett was a newspaper reporter who Kennedy met in1946 at a bar in Palm Beach called The Patio when he just committed to runningfor Congress. Bartlett introducedKennedy to Miss Bouvier, who he knew from summering in Easthampton, at a dinnerparty in Washington, D.C. in the Spring of 1951 while he was working for the DC bureau of “The Chattanooga Times. He served as one of JFK’s groomsmen and subsequently won the Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting in 1956.

Charles Bartlett is also the name of the actor who playedGrogan in Season 4, Episode 24 of “The Dukes of Hazzard,” the episode whereBoss Hogg accepts a $10,000 payoff from Hatchapee County Boss “Big” Jim Mathersto rig the Miss Tri-Counties pageant in favor of Hatchapee County entrantMelanie Dubois and tilt the competition against Hazzard County entrant DaisyDuke. Daisy wins the first twocompetitions; Grogan kidnaps her beforethe swimsuit competition. Can Bo andLuke find and save her in time?
